Bentley a été fondée en 1919 par Walter Owen Bentley, plus connu sous le nom de "W.O.". La société a été initialement établie pour concevoir et construire des voitures de course, et elle a remporté plusieurs victoires prestigieuses aux 24 Heures du Mans dans les années 1920.
