Histoire du constructeur

Elle a été fondée le 1er janvier 1987 après la fusion de Kohl Automobile GmbH et Team Schnitzer dans la ville d'Aix-la-Chapelle (les lettres "AC" dans le nom sont le code de cette ville sur les plaques d'immatriculation émises). Cependant, elle a commencé ses activités en 1936, lorsque Joseph Schnitzer a fondé un atelier de réparation automobile Opel et est devenu le représentant officiel de cette société. Joseph Schnitzer a commencé à travailler sur les voitures BMW en 1964. Le réglage est actuellement géré par Schnitzer Automobile Technik en coopération avec AC Schnitzer, la course est gérée par BMW Motorsport Team Schnitzer et Autohaus Schnitzer est responsable des ventes de véhicules BMW.
